Suzuki flute institue logo
Sometimes an event is geared toward two very different demographics. Such is the case with the Suzuki Flute Institue, which is a program to help young kids play flute better. Parents have a big role in any program designed for children and I did not want to leave them out, so I created an illustration of the native american flutist Kokopelli. Kokopelli is a very iconic image that I felt parents would recognize, while the Ipod would be something that would resonate with preteens.

Directories are usually very dull, but also very necessary. The client wanted to highlight what this particular directory’s strength was, a way for people to contact one another to desseminate ideas. With that in mind I did a sort of rebus, making the cover into a small puzzle, while stating the purpose of directory very plainly.

This poster was part of a package to promote a tutoring service at the university I used to work at. When I think of achievement along with the name “Inside Track” the racing metaphor is inescapable. Racing is a huge part of the culture where I live as Bristol Motor Speedway is only about an hour away. Nascar is afine sport, but personally, I felt the romance of grand prix was more suited to the task at hand. I looked at several old racing posters before doing illustrations of race cars, in order to get the proper feel. The squiggly element close to center is the race track at Monaco.
